Finding the perfect travel setup is a journey every artist takes. Recently, artist John got his hands on our 24 Color Watercolor Travel Set (Wooden Palette Edition).
From its unique dual-tip brush to the magnetic closure, here is his in-depth, hands-on review.
First Impressions: The Unboxing Experience

The experience begins before you even open the palette. John noted that the packaging offers excellent protection. When revealing the contents, the wooden palette is wrapped in a thick protective card sleeve, ensuring it arrives in perfect condition.
"The presentation box, is well printed and of good quality card and lots of very useful information. When you open the box to reveal the contents, you notice the palette is protected by a thick protective card sleeve to ensure the beautiful wooden palette reaches you in perfect condition."
The Hardware: A Beautiful Wooden Palette

The core of this travel set is the palette itself. The magnetic fastening is secure, making it reliable for travel.
"The wooden palette, is beautiful, the magnetic fastening works well, and the two halves are very secure.
The bottom half, houses 24 watercolour 1/2 pans, a sponge, a printed Swatch chart and a dual-tip travel brush... The top half, has three individual mixing areas, perfect for mixing your colours without risk of colour contamination."
The Hidden Gem: Dual-Tip Brush with Graphite

One feature that surprised John was the versatility of the included tool. It isn't just a brush; it's a complete sketching system featuring a graphite tip for preliminary drawings.
"The dual-tip travel brush... I feel will be everyone's favourite brush, it also has a graphite tip for sketching!
After I swatched the paints, I cleaned the brush and it still had the perfect tip. Brushes do not get any better than Fuumuui."
A Color-Blind Artist's Perspective

John offers a unique and valuable perspective as an artist who suffers from color blindness. For him, clear labeling is essential. He appreciated that the pan labels were detailed (pigment numbers, lightfastness) and easily removable.
"Being an artist who suffers colour blindness, it was nice to see a full colour chart of the included paints... An added bonus, which I was not expecting Fuumuui even included a very generous Swatch chart, which was labelled for each colour.
One thing I loved about the pan labels was they were easily removed, I stuck mine onto a sheet of paper for future reference."
Final Setup & Verdict

John customized the kit to fit his specific workflow, creating a bespoke swatch chart that fits perfectly inside the mixing area for ease of identification.
"In the photos, you can see how I set up my new 24 colour Watercolour set, I cannot wait to try it out.
This set is ideal, in the studio or carrying with you on day trips or holidays, all you will need is water, and you are ready to paint :)"
