How to Use the Color Mixer
- Step 1: Select Your Medium. Choose between Watercolor (Transparency mode) or Acrylic (Opaque mode).
- Step 2: Choose your paints. If you already own a Fuumuui paint set, or are still undecided about purchasing one, you can choose colors from our paint sets to mix.
- Step 3: Blend. Adjust ratios to see how pigments interact. (e.g., mix Ultramarine and Burnt Sienna to create versatile grays).
The Science Behind Real Paint Mixing
Unlike digital design tools that use light (RGB), traditional painting uses subtractive color mixing (RYB/CMYK). Our tool is calibrated to mimic pigment properties.
- Transparency: See how glazing works in watercolors.
- Tinting Strength: Not all pigments are equal. A touch of Phthalo Blue can overpower a large amount of yellow. Our algorithm accounts for this power, giving you a realistic 'recipe' for your physical artwork.
A Note on Color Accuracy
While our color mixer uses advanced algorithms to mimic real pigment behavior, please be aware that simulations may differ slightly from physical results. Here is why:
- Light vs. Pigment: Screens display color using projected light (RGB), whereas physical paints create color by absorbing and reflecting light. It is physically impossible for a screen to perfectly replicate the depth of natural pigments.
- Monitor Calibration: Every screen (phone, tablet, or monitor) has different brightness, contrast, and color profile settings, which affect how you see the color.
- Physical Variables: In real-life painting, the final color is also affected by your paper's texture and whiteness, the lighting in your room, and the specific water-to-paint ratio you use.
Think of this tool as a powerful guide to planning your palette and understanding color relationships before you dip your brush.
